Pasay City West High School (PCWHS) young researchers showcased their innovative Science Investigatory Projects at the Division Science Technology Fair (DSTF) 2023 held in Pasay City National Science High School on November 11, 2023, with the theme “Rebuilding Resilient Communities: Embracing Science and Technology for a Sustainable Future.”

Each learner competed in individual and team categories which focused on different branches of science, such as Life Science, Physical Science, Robotics and Intelligent Machine, Math and Computational Science, as well as the Innovation Expo.

 The following students were recognized:

Life Science – Individual Category

  • 2nd Place – Ashley Z. Ballesteros – STE 10 Galilei
  • 3rd Place – Nicamae Morales – STEM 12 Alexandrite

Life Science – Team Category

  • 3rd Place – Airon Brent G. Magante, Matthew B. Guzarem, Karel Mattieu L. Logro – STEM 12 Alexandrite

Physical Science – Individual Category

  • 1st Place – Axl John Pamintuan – STE 10 Galilei
  • 3rd Place – Lusiene Mariah Zarene D. Gonzales – STEM 12 Alexandrite

Physical Science – Team Category

  • 3rd Place – Rence Angel D. Buela, Riona M. Gigante, Precious Kate F. Pasco – STEM 12 Alexandrite

Robotics and Intelligent Machine – Individual Category

  • 1st Place – Angelyn Bartido – STEM 12 Alexandrite
  • 3rd Place – Julius Castor – STE 10 Galilei

Robotics and Intelligent Machine – Team Category

  • 2nd  Place –   Clouie Uzziah Moog, Marc John Lloyd Rivera, Marty Godwin Salgado – STEM 12 Alexandrite

Innovation Expo –  Individual Category

  • 2nd Place –   John Nathan Baterzal – STEM 12 Alexandrite

Innovation Expo – Team Category

  • 1st Place – Loren Mangahas, Marc Wayne Clemente – STE 10 Einstein

     Sofia Ezekielle Carampatana – STE 10 Galilei

The students who won 1st place will compete in the upcoming Regional Science Technology Fair (RSTF) 2023 on December 2, 2023. The SHS researchers were mentored by Ms. Liezel G. Clemente, while Mr. Ralph Malacad trained the contestants from the STE Class. PCWHS won in almost all categories.

Senior High School students from five schools of the Division of Pasay participated in the competition, namely Pasay City National Science High School, Kalayaan National High School, Pasay City South High School, Pasay City North High School – M. Dela Cruz, and Pasay City West High School. The only participants from the Junior High School were the young researchers from the PCWHS Science and Technology Engineering (STE) Program.

Along with this event was the launch of Science Initiatives Knitting Achievable Performance (Project SIKAP).  Mayor Imelda “Emi” Calixto-Rubiano brought a heartfelt message to the aspiring young minds who aim to set foot in the exhilarating world of science. Dr. Joel Torrecampo, CESO VI, Schools Division Superintendent, Dr. Arturo A Tolentino, Assistant Schools Division Superintendent, and Mr. Librado F. Torres, Chief Education Supervisor – Curriculum Division also graced the event.
