Chesza Margarita C. Ubaldo from Grade 7 Newton won a consolation price in the National Essay Writing contest during the celebration of the 80th Araw ng Kagitingan and Philippine Veterans Week.

The event was done in line with the DepEd Memorandum No. Q-075 s. 2022 and in cooperation with Department of National Defense (DND) and Philippine Veterans Affairs Office (PVAO). Other activities include National Virtual Symposium, Poster-Making, Oratorical, Song Writing and Essay-Writing Contests. 

The said contests were opened to all students from Grade 7, 8 and 9 enrolled in any public and private secondary schools nationwide who is a relative of a veteran up to the 4th degree of consanguinity.  All entries focused on the theme “KAGITINGAN NG MGA BETERANO, INSPIRASYON NG NAGKAKAISANG PILIPINO” whcih depict the life, works and heroism of the veteran/s (alive or deceased) and be in line with the year’s theme

In her three-page- essay titled “LOLO PRIMO”, Ubaldo illustrated the heroism of her late Great Grandfather, a veteran of World War. Her composition was included among the five chosen entries from Pasay Division which was formally endorsed by the School Division Superintendent Dr. Loreta B. Torrecampo along with the SGOD Chief. The said entry was certified by PCWHS Mr. Peter R.  Cannon Jr. The young writer was trained by AP teachers Mrs. Rizza C. Capangyarihan and Mr. Rex John D. Sol under the supervision of the Department Head Mrs. Socorro C. Domingo

Ubaldo took home three thousand pesos (Php 3000.00).
