In view of the 30th Civil Registration Month celebration, Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) of NCR-Provincial Statistical Office (NCR-PSO) V held an essay writing contest at Pasay City West High School Library on Feb. 26, 2019.
Nineteen grade-10 learners of the school – 13 of which are from STE program while six are from the regular curriculum – joined the said contest. The young scribes were given two hours to develop their piece focusing on the theme “Shaping CRVS by Embracing the New Trends of the 4th Industrial Revolution.”
The result of the contest was announced during the agency’s culminating activity held on Feb. 28, 2020 at the Training Room of NCR-PSO V office. Emerging as winners are: Irish Peusca (first place), Francine Yzabelle Fugoso (second place), and Sheny Sampang (third). Both Peusca and Fugoso came from the class of 10-Einstein of the school’s STE program while Sampang is from the class of 10-Bonifacion from the regular program. Present in the awarding ceremony are statistical specialists Bambie A. Villaruel and Edna V. Fulo. The winners receive certificate of recognition and cash prizes. Mrs. Veronica D. Miranda, the school’s English Department head and Ms. Cynthia L. Abarquez, the contestants’ English teachers accompanied the young writers. Mrs. Miranda also received certificate of appreciation.
