In a remarkable display of unity and commitment to fostering community engagement, the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) of PCWHS conducted its annual elections for both homeroom and School Parent-Teacher Association (SPTA) officers. This significant event was skillfully facilitated and supervised by Mr. Agapito Teodoro Manaog, the esteemed principal of PCWHS, and it took place on September 16, 2023, in the PCWHS Gymnasium and Classrooms. Driven by the collaborative efforts of the Social Studies Department, led by Mrs. Socorro C. Domingo, Department Head VI, and Dr. Vivian C. Agulto, the SPTA/HRPTA Election Focal Person, the elections served as a testament to the school’s dedication to parental involvement and inclusive leadership.

In accordance with the local memorandum, advisers for each section and grade level received directives to actively encourage parental participation and attendance in both orientation sessions and the subsequent election of new officers. The proceedings commenced with Grade 8 parents, who gathered for a plenary session hosted by Dr. Mary Grace Occasion. During this informative session, participants delved into the Omnibus Election Guidelines, with a particular focus on matters related to guardianship and election procedures.

Following the plenary session, parents proceeded to their respective homerooms, where they met with their children’s advisory teachers. Here, they elected HRPTA officers, including the President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Auditor. Advisers were entrusted with the responsibility of compiling and submitting the list of elected officers, meeting minutes, attendance records, and related documentation to their level coordinators. The elected HRPTA Presidents from each grade level then proceeded to select a Grade Level parent representative. This representative automatically became a part of the Board of Directors (BOD), which will form this year’s 5-member School Parent-Teacher Association (SPTA). Furthermore, the position of SPTA Secretary was designated for the teacher-representative elected within the level. Grades 10, 12, 7, 9, and 11 also followed the same procedures.

Grade Level Representatives and Alternates:

Grade 7: Jennifer P. Ofdi and Allan A. Bornales

Grade 8: Marife C. Soral and Maria Elsa A. Carongoy

Grade 9: Marissa M. Famorcan and Elnora Develos

Grade 10: Ana Hernandez and Corazon Baltazar

Grade 11: Fernando E. Rivera and Jenalyn B. Carreon

Grade 12: Marife B. Lizardo and Ryan C. Pontijes

The SPTA elections for the current school year were scheduled for September 20, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. in the AVR.

On that day, after a brief orientation involving a 9-member team (comprising 6 parents and 3 teachers), the election for the current school year’s SPTA officers occurred. Nominees for President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer were named, and a secret ballot was conducted. The votes were carefully collected and counted, and the results were officially announced. An interesting twist occurred in the Vice President position, resulting in a tie, which was resolved by a coin toss, following the Omnibus Guidelines. Additionally, a Collection and Disbursing Officer was appointed based on the decision of the elected SPTA officers.

To sum it up, the following individuals were the declared winners of this year’s SPTA elections, ready to take the helm of the association with the guidance of the Focal Person and the involvement of the ELECOM members from the AP Department:

President: Mr. Fernando E. Rivera

Vice-President: Mrs. Ana Hernandez

Secretary: Mrs. Herminia L. Balantakbo

Treasurer: Marissa M. Famorcan

Collection and Disbursing Officer: Mrs. Marie Fe B. Lizardo

These well-organized elections showcase PCWHS’s commitment to involving parents and emphasize collaboration and inclusivity in shaping the school’s leadership and future. The event’s success shows that everyone involved is dedicated, and it’s a positive sign for the upcoming academic year.
