Featuring the learners’ talent, skills, and knowledge in Mandarin and German languages, Pasay City West High School-Special Program for Foreign Language (SPFL) held its culminating activity on March 21, 2024 at the school’s Audio-Visual Room.

Present in the event were PCWHS principal Agapito Teodor N. Manaog, Assistant Principal Mrs. Ivy S. Tanglao, Department Heads, SPFL teachers, English teachers, parents, learners and special guests.

In his opening remarks, Mr. Manaog lauded the SPFL teachers and learners for their commitment to the program while expressing his desire to offer Mandarin and German programs to more PCWHS learners. At present, the two languages are offered to only one section from Grades 7-10.

Highlights of the activity included the cosplay contest, search for singing idol, and quiz bee. Learners of both Mandarin and German from Grades 7-10 showcased their talents and skills in cosplay and singing idol, while those proficient in the languages demonstrated their mastery in the quiz bee. Judges of the contests included PCWHS alumna and former SPFL Mandarin student Samantha Nicole N. Nollora; SPFL teachers from Jose Abad High School, Manila, Carolina G. Avengoza (German), and Cherlyn P. Lorenzo (Korean).

 Emcees of the event were Mandarin learners Frank Harvey L. Marasigan and Marie Louise Anne J. Mercardo together with German learners Hunter Hangello A. Tabuzo and Kim Rosebelle G. Barile.

The culminating activity was done through the concerted efforts of SPFL teachers Raquel May R. Basa, Jenelyn E. Bareng and Lillibeth A. Dela Rosa (German), Celia L. Singcol. Lynzhee Star Y. Mangantilao, Kerstine P. Espinida and Mary Ann P. Latupan (Madarin) together English Department Head Mrs. Veronica D. Miranda.

The culminating activity was organized through the concerted efforts of SPFL teachers Raquel May R. Basa, Jenelyn E. Bareng, and Lillibeth A. Dela Rosa (German), Celia L. Singcol, Lynzhee Star Y. Mangantilao, Kerstine P. Espinida, and Mary Ann P. Latupan (Mandarin), together with the school’s SPFL coordinator and English Department Head Mrs. Veronica D. Miranda.
