Pasay City West High School’s Special Program for Foreign Language (SPFL) held its virtual culminating activity on July 8, 2021.
Themed “Building Bridges Across Cultures in the New Normal”, the activity was streamed through the official Facebook page of PCWHS.
Featured in the event are the following contests: singing idol, cosplay, quiz bee.
Here is the list of the winners in each contest:
Quiz bee champions: Jesse M. Buday (Mandarin) and Carla Alaja Burgos (German); Singing Idol Champions: Wendy Herminia Sigua (Mandarin) and Lanesha Espinosa (German); Cosplay Champions: Jovie Rosales as Diao Chan (Mandarin) and Dustine Joe Del Castillo as Maleficent (German). All winners received certificate of recognition.
Participants in singing idol-Mandarin are: Mary Louise Ann Mercado (Grade 7), Mary Norge Polo (Grade 7), Sigua (Grade 9), and Pauline E. Claudio (Grade 10). Singing idol-German has the following participants: Celene Ordiales (Grade 7), Althea Rayos (Grade 8), Espinosa (Grade 9), and Jazzelle Grace Albaladejo (Grade 10). Participants in the cosplay-Mandarin are:
Geollana Eleazar (Grade 8), Karyl Mae Yanto (Grade 9), and Rosales (Grade 10). For cosplay German, the two participants are: Andrea Tamayo (Grade 9) and Del Castillo (Grade 10).
Mr. Peter R. Cannon, Jr., the school principal gave the welcome remarks while Dr. Imelda V. Boquiren, Education Program Supervisor in English delivered the inspirational message. Mrs. Veronica D. Miranda, PCWHS English Department Head gave the closing remarks.
A number of students gave intermission numbers. To wit: Rosales showed how some English words and expressions are said in Mandarin; a group of Grade 9 German learners presented a vlog, a group of Grade 9 Mandarin learners did the sang the Mandarin version of “See the Lights”, and finally, a group of Grade 10 Mandarin learners did a video presentation of their daily classroom activities.
The event was organized by the SPFL teachers Kerstine Espinida, Lynzhee Star Yjan, Reynaldo Bagiuo, and Celia L. Singcol ( Mandarin), Raquel May Basa, Jenelyn Bareng and Lillibeth Dela Rosa (German) and led by Mrs. Celia L. Singcol, SPFL coordinator. Emcees of the event were Marly Jane Ortiz and Laquisha Collete Liquanan.
