Pasay City West High School student-journalist snagged multiple wins during the awarding ceremony of SDO Pasay 42nd Division Schools Press Conference (DSPC) held at Epifanio Delos Santos Elementary School on January. 27, 2024.

First-time contender Hunter Hangello A. Tabuzo bagged 1st place in science and health writing while Grade 7 learner Jeanna Maizze Abella got the 2nd place in column writing.  Likewise, Johann Austin Malig who took a time-out from the campus press tilt last year landed at 3rd place in copy reading and headline writing contest.

 In the Filipino category John Nathan Baterzal and Hosea Daniel Solangon won 2nd place in pagsulat ng balita and pagkuha ng larawan respectively.

In the group category, the team of Julianna May S. Tomas, Archanna Nicole S. Molina, Elijah S. Costes, Kirsten Faye G. Cherriguine, and Szamara Aika A. Beriña were adjudged as 1st place in online publishing. The team also snagged the following awards: Best in Editorial Cartoon, Best in Photojournalism, Best Sports, and Best Opinion Sections.

Having landed in the top three, the said campus journalists qualified for the Regional Schools Press Conference (RSPC) come April of this year.

Other Westian scribes who won in DSPC are: Kiel Vincent P. Fajardo, 4th place in news writing; Phoem Maureen D. Prado, 4th place in editorial cartooning; Nathalie Tyne O. Ea, 5th place in photo-journalism; Eduardo Jabuena Ibañes Jr. ,5th place editoryal kartuning; and Rachell Vidal, 4th Place pagwawasto at pag-uulo ng balita.

Present in the awarding ceremonies are Dr. Quinn Norman Arrezza, Pasay City Assistant Schools Division Superintendent; Mr. Librado F. Torres, Chief Curriculum Implementation Division; Dr. Imelda V. Boquiren and Ms. Rowela Cadayona, Education Program Supervisor in English and Filipino respectively; school heads, department heads, school paper advisers, teachers-trainers, parents and student-journalists. The said young journalists were trained by Mrs. Celia L. Singcol, Ms. Cynthia L. Abarquez, Ms. Madelyn Cebuco, Ms. Elizabeth Avila, and Mr. John Robert Blas.
