Three Paralympians from Pasay City West High School have earned the right to compete at the prestigious Palarong Pambansa event, set to take place from July 29 to Aug. 5, 2023, at Marikina City. Kris Ann Baroza, Angelika Mae A. Olsen, and Lilian Joy Oliquino have all qualified to participate in the games after impressive performances at the NCR Palaro.

Kris Ann Baroza, who was coached by Dr. Omar I. Aguilar and Mr. Reynante S. Panlaqi, showcased her swimming prowess by winning three medals – a bronze in backstroke and a couple of silvers from breaststroke and backstroke. Her impressive showing sets her up as one to watch at the upcoming Palarong Pambansa.

Para-athletes Angelika Mae Olsen and Lilian Joy Oliquino demonstrated exceptional skills and achievements during the NCR Palaro. They both excelled in their individual events and secured multiple medals. Lilian Joy Oliquino, known as the golden girl, particularly stood out by claiming two gold medals. She displayed her dominance in both the shot put event and the 400 x 100 meter relay. Meanwhile, Olsen contributed to her school’s medal count by securing a gold medal alongside Oliquino in the 4 x 100 meter relay. She also achieved a bronze medal in the 100 meter dash. Notably, the coaching prowess of Miss Glenda P. Villacostes played a vital role in the success of both para-athletes.

The school and the local community are eagerly anticipating the participation of these talented athletes at the upcoming Palarong Pambansa event. We wish Kris Ann Baroza, Angelika Mae Olsen, and Lilian Joy Oliquino the best of luck as they compete against the best of the best from across the nation.
