The team of Mrs. Adelina P. Limos, Grade 10-learner Carmela Andrea P. Limos, and their coach Mr. King Alfred D. Sy represented Pasay City West High School in the national level of Sarap Sustansya Virtual Cook-Off Junior High School held on Jan. 18, 2023.
PCWHS team qualified in the national level when they bested entries in the regional level held on Nov. 15, 2022. It is the second time for the pair of Adelina and Andrea Limos in the virtual-cook-off contest. The mother and daughter tandem qualified in the regional level of the same contest last year with Mrs. Fria Canlas as their coach.
Sponsored by Maggi and the Department of Education, the contest aims to educate Filipino youth on the importance of a delicious and balanced diet while instilling an appreciation for cooking as an essential life skill.
The contest required each team to create a six-minute video presentation of their recipe for a dish containing eggs and vegetables as the main ingredients. Apart from being nutritious, the meal must be good for five persons and the total cost must be ₱150.00 and below.
Likewise, participating teams are required to incorporate innovative solutions in decreasing food waste.
The virtual cook-off contest is part of the Nestle Wellness Campus program which also featured the Wellness Healthy Habits Best Practices contest. Like the virtual cook-off, PCWHS also ruled this contest in the Division level. Judging of the Wellness Healthy Habits Best Practices was done on Nov. 15, 2022 where PCWHS entry was adjudged as champion.
The activities involved in Nestle Wellness Campus program was facilitated in the school by its coordinators Mrs. Narcissa Lim and Mr. Caniel Ordoňez together with Dr. Omar Aguilar, MAPEH Department Head and Mrs. Mrs. Mildred Romanban, then TLE OIC-Department Head.
