Pasay City West High School (PCWHS) was filled with jubilant cheers as teachers, department heads, and school administrators, including Ms. Ivy Tanglao, Assistant Principal, and Mr. Agapito Teodoro Manaog, School Principal, gathered to celebrate Teachers’ Day on October 6, 2023, at the PCWHS Gymnasium.

The teachers’ arrival on the school campus was accompanied by a spirited performance by the PCWHS band, guided by their adviser, Mr. Marvin Ditalo, which set a festive tone for the event.

The event was organized by the Supreme Secondary Learner Government (SSLG), led by Mr. Rex John Sol, the SSLG adviser, and SSLG President, Kristel Jame Briosos. Their collaborative efforts extended to various school organizations, including PCWHS’ Girl Scouts of the Philippines (GSP), Senior Scouts of PCWHS, Campus Integrity Crusaders (CIC), and Youth for the Environment in the Schools Organization (YES-O).

The program commenced with a flag presentation by the Boy Scouts, followed by a heartfelt prayer led by CIC President John Nathan Baterzal. The Nationalistic song and Pasay Hymn were beautifully sung under the guidance of Mrs. Chrismarilene R. Cabataña, the PCWHS Chorale adviser.

The celebration continued with entertaining games that showcased the humorous side of the teachers as they temporarily set aside their usual classroom duties. The PCWHS Dance Troupe, under the guidance of their adviser, Mr. Canniel Ordoñez, along with SSLG, CIC, GSP, and YES-O officers, captivated the audience with a breathtaking intermission performance. A photo booth captured moments of joy and appreciation shared by teachers and students. Students from various sections expressed gratitude with bouquets, and SSLG Officers presented thoughtful gifts.

The excitement reached its peak during the raffle draw led by faculty officers, with Mr. Reynante S. Panlaqui, the school’s faculty club president, as teachers eagerly awaited their names to be called,  and prizes such as mini electric fans, stylish tote bags, and cash were awarded to the fortunate winners, courtesy of Mr. Manaog and other esteemed teachers.

The program concluded with an awarding ceremony by the School Parent-Teacher Association (SPTA) officers where Mr. Manaog, the school principal, Ms. Ivy Tanglao, Assistant Principal, and SSLG President acknowledged teachers for their unwavering loyalty and paid tribute to retirees. The SSLG President, in her closing remarks, expressed profound gratitude for everyone’s enthusiastic participation and emphasized the role of teachers in shaping a brighter future.

Jian Margareth Mariano and Brandon Lance Tadeo were the dynamic hosts who maintained a vibrant and engaging atmosphere throughout the entire program.
