Sponsored by the Department of Tourism, eighty-six Grade 8 STE students of Pasay City West High School visited a number of historical places in Manila last June 8, 2018. Joining the students were Mrs. Vina Erni, Pasay City Education Program Supervisor in Social Studies; Mrs. Cory Domingo, Araling Panlipunan Department Head; Mrs. Phia O. Diola; and Mrs. Franz Lanuzo.
The group first visited the Tandang Sora Museum in Quezon City where they had a chance to glance over some of the heroin’s relics and deep-rooted family pictures. Next stop was at Andres Bonifacio Monument in Caloocan City. Here, the students and teachers were oriented of the historic blast of the exceptional memorial of the Philippine Independence’ Characters headed by Andres Bonifacio himself. The famous “Monumento” which is situated in the heart of Caloocan City reminded everyone of how the Filipinos bravely fought for our liberation from the oppressors. They also dropped by at Manila North Cemetery where the Filipino heroes’ remains lie. After paying respect to the heroes, the group had a sumptuous lunch courtesy of the DOT.
The group then went to Intramuros where they went down memory lane and had a glimpse of the life, works and battles of the country’s national hero, Dr. Jose P. Rizal. The group ended the tour in Rizal Shrine.
