True to its commitment in upholding education of Pasay City youths, Pasay City Local Government, through the leadership of Hon. Mayor Imelda “Emi” Calixto-Rubiano and Hon. Congressman Antonino “Tony” Calixto turned over numerous learning materials and school equipment to the DepEd Pasay City Division on January 13, 2024, at the Timoteo Paez Elementary School gymnasium.

Turned-over materials were laptops, tablets, cabinets, tables, chairs, school supplies, and hygiene kits.

In her speech, Mayor Emi named the different special educational programs funded by the local government of Pasay City. Recognizing that students learn at different paces, the City Mayor emphasized the importance of assisting those who may have difficulties in keeping up. She expressed her concern for students facing challenges in learning, stating, “Paano naman ‘yong hindi masyadong magaling? Hindi rin natin ‘yan kinalimutan.” Mayor Emi proudly highlighted, “Mas nauna pa po tayo sa ginagawa ng DepEd sa buong bansa dahil meron na agad tayong remedial reading classes.” She added that Pasay City is also conducting remedial classes in Math and Science.

Cong. Tony Calixto also expressed his commitment to giving quality education to Pasay City youths. “Hindi po ako titigil na magbigay ng suporta para sa ating mga estudyante” the Congressman reiterated. The lawmaker further stressed the importance of using the learning materials emphasizing that the said learning materials serve as key for the students’ success.

Dr. Joel T. Torrecampo, the officer-in-charge of the Pasay City Office of the Schools Division Superintendent, introduced Mayor Calixto-Rubiano and Congressman Calixto. Dr. Arturo Tolentino, former Assistant Schools Division Superintendent; and Mr. Librado F. Torres, Chief of the Curriculum Implementation Division witnessed the turnover ceremony. Also present in the event were Public School District Supervisors, Education Program Supervisors, principals from different public schools, focal persons of various educational programs, reading remedial teachers, SPTA officers, and some TPES students.
