With the objective of letting the students learn the German language through music Goethe Institut did a seven-day German singing workshop which kicked off at Pasay City West High School gym last Aug. 14, 2017. Present in the event are German representatives Sandro Jahn and Marie Christine Lucie Charlotte Banga; Ms. Grace Torres Panganiban, OIC-Language Coordinator Goethe Institut; Dr. Myrna B. Gaza, principal; Dr. Anita B. Atienza, the school assistant principal; Mrs. Nida D. Raagas, Guidance Coordinator; Miss Lucy Monton, MAPEH Department Head, Mrs. Veronica D. Miranda, OIC-Head, English department; Deutsch teachers Mrs. Jenelyn Bareng, Mrs. Lilibeth Dela Rosa, and Mrs. Raquel May Basa; and Deutsch learners from grades 7, 8, 9 and 10.
The two Germans taught the PCWHS Deutsch learners their selected music. At the end of the four-hour- program, the learners presented their own German music to the guests. A group of boys from Grade 10 Scarlet rendered their own version of the song learned from the workshop followed by Vivien Cuapat from Grade 8 Mangga, who sang the theme song of the movie “Moana” in Deutsch.
