Celebrating the victories of Pasayeῇo women and children, Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano delivered her State of the City Children Address (SOCCA) 2023 on Nov. 23, 2023, at Cuneta Astrodome. Themed “Healthy, Nourished, and Sheltered: Ensuring the Right to Life For All,” this year’s SOCCA worked in consonance with the four Pillars of Children’s Rights. In her address, Mayor Calixto-Rubiano shed light on the city’s projects aimed at promoting the welfare of children and women, emphasizing the city’s commitment to creating a healthy and nurturing environment.
During the program, deserving Pasay City learners who displayed their talents and brilliance in different fields were recognized. The children showcased their talents and skills in various ways, ranging from little preschoolers in captivating performances to an amazing display of up-to-date fashion through the Costume-Making Contest using recyclable materials.
Pasay City West High School received recognition for its unwavering support to the City Government of Pasay for two consecutive years. Mr. Agapito Teodoro N. Manaog, PCWHS principal, accepted the Plaque of Appreciation on behalf of the school. The PCWHS Angklung Ensemble was also acknowledged as a contributor to “Kagalingan ng Pasay,” with Ms. Juliet C. Brioso, the Angklung Moderator, receiving the award. In addition, Jame Brosos, PCWHS-SSLG President, was awarded as one of the Three Faces of Pasay Youth.
Mr. John Francis Octaviano, PCWHS Araling Panlipunan Teacher, helmed the SOCCA. PCWHS Angklung Ensemble led the singing of the National Anthem and Pasay March. The Ensemble also played their own rendition of “Spanish Eyes” and some Christmas songs. Meanwhile, PCWHS Dance Troupe wowed the audience through their one-of-a-kind cultural dance presentation. Event emcees, PCWHS STE learners Ezekiel Pilon and Mharienne Xenina De Paula. The event concluded with the singing of the uplifting song, “Yesterday’s Dream.
