SDO-Pasay conducted a rollout of DRRM modules on August 23-24, 2023, at Jose Rizal Elementary School, with the aim of equipping the Pasay City Schools’ Disaster Risk Reduction Management (SDRRM) Team with essential knowledge for disaster preparedness.
Ignacio S. Tolentino, the DRRM assistant coordinator at Pasay City West High School, attended the event. Spearheaded by SDO Pasay’s DRRM Coordinator, Mr. Bayani H. Litusquen, the rollout showcased various topics focused on ensuring the safety of learners in the schools. Different speakers from SDO Pasay shared their knowledge about disaster risk reduction management.
The Comprehensive SDRRM Framework took the spotlight, offering a roadmap to shield educational institutions from unforeseen adversities. Disaster Risk Reduction Management Terms were unveiled, providing a shared vocabulary for crisis situations. Common hazards like floods, typhoons, and earthquakes were dissected, laying the foundation for resilient strategies.
Information Management and Coordination Protocols were implemented to connect schools, parents, and local authorities, fostering practicality and unity. School-Based Disaster Risk Reduction Management transformed educators into safety architects. Hazard Mapping revealed escape routes, while the Evacuation Drill instilled readiness.
Resource Mobilization reflected community unity, effectively fortifying educational sanctuaries. Inclusive and Child-Centered Disaster Risk Reduction Management underscored Pasay’s unwavering commitment to diversity. The needs of every learner were prioritized, alongside the concepts of Temporary Learning Spaces and Camp Management, highlighting the resilience of education.
With this comprehensive rollout, SDO Pasay hopes to empower the SDRRM team to ensure the safety, health, and empowerment of learners, regardless of the challenges.
