“We should act as catalysts of change through innovation.”
These were the words of Chief Education Program Supervisor (EPS) for Curriculum and Instructions Division (CID), Division of Pasay Mr. Librado F. Torres addressed Science enthusiasts, teachers and Coaches during the Opening Ceremonies of Science and Technology Fair 2018 at Padre Burgos Elementary School last October 19, 2018. This year’s theme of the Science fair is : “Science for the People: Liberating Education through Innovation,” Mr. Librado further emphasized during his welcome remarks the big role teachers and students play in liberating education through innovation which according to him. should first be established in the classroom
The opening program started with the of singing of the national anthem followed by the doxology led by the Himig Zamora of Padre Zamora Elementary School (PZES). Principal of Padre Burgos Elementary School (PBES) Mr. Danilo O. Galero welcomed the guests, judges, teachers and participants of the fair. He was honored that PBES was selected to be the venue for this year’s science fair.
Education Program Supervisor (EPS) in Science Dr. Maripaz T. Mendoza introduced the participants by cluster and they were acknowledged through their loud and unique cheers. Afterwards, she introduced the distinguished board of judges in different categories. Dr. Mendoza also acknowledged the effort and preparation of each school and thanked everyone for their utmost support to materialize the fair and make it as a successful one.
The formal opening of the Division Science and Technology Fair was headed by Mrs. Micah Pacheco, Regional Education Program Supervisor in Science and Mr. Librado Torres, Chief EPS-CID. They were assisted by the judges during the ribbon cutting ceremony that marked the opening of the fair.
After the final reminders, contests on different categories started. Participants of the different categories proceeded to the room assignment designated to each category.
Closing Program followed right after the conduct of contests in different fields. Judges of various categories received certificates of appreciations while winners in each category received medals and certificates.
Mr. Romeo Darag and Ms. Jennifer D. Base both won first place in the teacher’s category. Darag’s Interactive Science Instructional Material bested the entries of Kalayaan National High School and Pasay City East High School while Base’s Innovation Expo topped the works of teachers from Pasay City North High School – M. Dela Cruz and Pasay City North High School- Tramo.
In the students’ category, three Westians nabbed wins in Science Investigatory Projects (SIP). Princess Naomi won first place in in SIP – Life Science contest for the junior high school while Anna Cecilia Rullan settled for third place in SIP – Physical Science. Mr. Ralph Macalalad trained both students. Meanwhile, Apple Mae Daleon landed at third in SIP – Life Science contest for the senior high school with Engr. Lorina Del Rosario as her trainer. Finally, the school’s Science Warriors team – Daniella Septino, Ma. Isabela Colimbo, Edrick Mamitag, Arnold Tamayo, and Anjel M. Alcoreza – arrived at second place. Ms. Marife Magdato is the Team’s trainer.
