Themed “Ugaliing Magtanim Sapat na Nutrisyon Aanihin”, PCWHS joined the Nutrition month which kicked-off on July 10, 2018 at PCWHS campus.
Featured in the month-long event are: urban farming on July 11 – 14, nutri dance zumba held at the gym on July 16 and 30, poster making contest on July17-20 and nutri-rap contest on July 24. Winners of the poster making contests are: Joana Marie Ibay (9 – Marcos), 1st Place; Jennifer Cuyno (10 – Luna), 2nd Place; Aliyah Denise Del Villar (8 – Magiliw), 3rd Place; and Khristerie Celin Mark Anor (7 – Dma De Noche), 4th place. The following are the winners in Nutri-Rap 2018: Grade 9 – Duterte, 1st Place; Grade 8 – Magalang, 2nd Place; Grade 10 – Burgos, 3rd Place.
This year’s event has the following objectives: To improve food access by increasing the number of households, school, and communities engaged in food garden; To augment income through sales from homegrown produce; hence to improve income through sales from homegrown products; and to promote the Philippine Plan of Action (PPAN) 2017-2022 to address malnutrition in the country. In order to meet the said objectives, Home Economics (HE) teachers facilitated the urban farming in front of building A as well as in the classrooms using plastic containers as pots. HE department headed by Mrs. Elizabeth Villanueva led the celebration.
