Three students from Pasay City West High School (PCWHS) earned distinctions in the SDO Pasay Reading Proficiency Contest held on November 14, 2025, at P. Zamora Elementary School.

Kent Yancey M. Bajardo (Grade 7) secured second place, while Jhazz Skyler E. Feliña and Duwei Jansei P. Dapog both clinched third place. Bajardo was trained by Mrs. Ma. Gina P. Bituaran, while Feliña and Dapog were coached by Mrs. Antonella M. Aragon and Ms. Cynthia L. Abarquez, respectively.

Other Westians who competed were Arryck Jude E. Ricafort (Grade 9), Geoffrey Gono (Grade 11), and Angela Kylie C. Barrios (Grade 12). Their coaches were Mrs. Celia L. Singcol for Ricafort, Ms. Ellen Buison for Gono, and Ms. Jan Santos for Barrios.

The contest is part of the SDO Pasay National Reading Month Celebration.

PCWHS performed better in this year’s edition of the competition, with three students finishing on the podium. In last year’s edition, only Dapog (G9 last year) was able to finish at third place.

The student-participants trained under the guidance of their coaches with the supervision of Mrs. Veronica D. Miranda, English Department Head; Assistant Principals Mrs. Ena R. Tamayo and Mrs. Rosa R. Alferez; and School Principal Mr. Agapito Teodoro N. Manaog.
