Pasay City West High School (PCWHS) commends Jianna Maizee Abella, a campus writer of The Post, for representing the Division of Pasay City in the 2025 National Schools Press Conference (NSPC) held in Vigan, Ilocos Sur, from May 19 to 23, 2025.
Abella qualified for the NSPC after winning first place in the Column Writing (English) category during the Regional Schools Press Conference (RSPC) held on February 26, 2025, at St. Andrew’s College, Parañaque City. She was the lone qualifier from the Division of Pasay City and trained rigorously under her coach and English teacher, Mrs. Antonella M. Aragon, through the collaborative efforts of Mrs. Celia L. Singcol and Ms. Cynthia L. Abarquez.
In addition, The Post earned 3rd Place in the Best Editorial Section (English category), marking the school’s first recognition in the newspaper competition and qualifying the publication for the NSPC School Paper Category for the first time. This milestone was achieved under the mentorship of Mrs. Celia L. Singcol and Ms. Cynthia L. Abarquez, school paper advisers.
Meanwhile, the TV Scriptwriting and Broadcasting Team (English) of SDO Pasay achieved 4th Place in the Overall TV Production category. The team was trained by Mrs. Celia L. Singcol, school paper adviser of The Post, and Mr. Allan Fernandez, school paper adviser of Pasay City South High School.
They also garnered the following awards:
- 4th Place – Best in Infomercial
- 3rd Place – Best in Technical Application
Shane Moira C. Ramos, a Grade 10 student from PCWHS, served as News Correspondent, contributing to the scriptwriting and infomercial editing.
Other Westians who competed in the RSPC were:
- Sean Ahkiko Angeles – Sports Writing (English)
- Johann Austin Malig – Copyreading and Headline Writing (English)
These student-journalists were trained under the guidance of Mrs. Celia L. Singcol (SPA in English) and Ms. Cynthia L. Abarquez (Co-SPA), with the supervision of Mrs. Veronica D. Miranda (English Department Head), Mr. Agapito Teodoro N. Manaog (School Principal), and Assistant Principals Mrs. Rosa R. Alferez and Mrs. Ena R. Tamayo.
