The study “Mitigate Mobile Game Dependency and Amplify Basic Operation Skills in Polynomials through MATCH and Moddax Cards” by Rica Joy D. Gloria, a two-time Basic Education Research Fund (BERF) grantee and Mathematics Master Teacher of Pasay City West High School (PCWHS), proudly represented the Division of Pasay City in the 2025 Regional Research Convergence of the Department of Education–National Capital Region (DepEd-NCR) held at Hortz Hotel, Tagaytay City, on October 13-14, 2025.

The event gathered 16 oral and 16 poster research presenters from various divisions across the region. It was organized by the Policy, Planning and Research Division and the Regional Research Committee of DepEd-NCR.

Ms. Gloria was selected as one of the oral presenters and successfully defended her study before a panel of eight judges, emphasizing its potential as a sustainable solution to improve numeracy among learners. The same research was earlier recognized as one of the Best Research Proposals during the PCWHS School Research Festival spearheaded by the school’s Research Committee in January 2025.

Her research journey was strengthened through the collaboration and support of the Division Research Team, composed of Ms. Maria Jacqueline D. Bernardino, Senior Education Program Specialist for Planning and Research, and Dr. Aracelie S. Serdaña, co-chairperson of the Division Research Committee and Mathematics Department Head of PCWHS, who collectively provided their expertise and guidance throughout the process.

Panel members commended the study for addressing not only mobile game dependency among learners but also for enhancing numeracy through engaging, low-cost, and gamified learning materials. One evaluator remarked, “Innovative learning does not always require complex interventions; sometimes, simple yet creative tools can produce meaningful academic outcomes.”

A regional officer likewise praised the Division of Pasay City for its continued excellence in promoting numeracy, expressing admiration for Ms. Gloria’s innovation and dedication, qualities that contribute to the division’s consistent top performance in NCR numeracy assessments.
