Pasay City West High School kicked off the National Reading Month and English Week celebration at the school grounds on November 7, 2025, at 8:30 a.m.

Themed “Bridges of Understanding: Reading for Empathy, Critical Thinking, and Life-long Learning,” the event featured various literary presentations by students.

The Melaphoria Band (G9-Lavoisier) rendered special songs and even invited the English teachers to dance along. Afterwards, Grade 8- Balete presented a reader’s theater performance of the Indian folktale Why the Sky is So High. This was followed by Grade 9-Lavoisier’s choric speech interpretation of William Shakespeare’s The Seven Ages of Man. Finally, Juakin A. Barredo (G10–Einstein) delivered a dramatic recitation of Edgar Allan Poe’s Annabel Lee.
The participants were trained by Mrs. Raquel May R. Basa (G8–Balete), Mrs. Celia L. Singcol (G9–Lavoisier), and Ms. Cynthia L. Abarquez (Barredo).

Another highlight of the celebration was Mrs. Grace Legada’s reading of The Judgment of Paris, a Greek myth. Students who answered her questions received special giveaways.

Mrs. Veronica D. Miranda, Head Teacher VI of the English Department, delivered the welcome remarks, while Mrs. Ena R. Tamayo, Assistant Principal II, gave the opening remarks. Mr. Dan Sajorda, English teacher, announced the lineup of activities for the celebration. Officers of the English Club also took their oath of office with Mrs. Tamayo as the administering officer.

Mrs. Antonella M. Mabulac, Master Teacher II, serves as the chairperson of this year’s National Reading Month and English Week celebration.

Ms. Merrie Anthuanett Mercado, English teacher, emceed the event.

The celebration was conducted under the supervision of Mrs. Miranda; Mrs. Tamayo; Mrs. Rosa R. Alferez, Assistant Principal II; and Mr. Agapito Teodoro N. Manaog, Principal IV.
