In support of the implementation of RA 10871 or The Basic Life Support Training in Schools Act, Red Cross (RC) of the Philippines Pasay City Chapter held the second batch of National Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) day on July 19, 2019 at Pasay City West High School gym. Present in the event were RC Pasay City Chapter Representative Ms. Agnes P. Esguerra, RN, Pau Cura Manuel, Sir Ferds, PCWHS nurse Mrs. Filipina A. De Guzman, PCWHS Red Cross Youth (RCY) advisers Ireneo T. Macaspag, John Francis L. Octaviano, Jaycent M. Bustos, Sherilyn R. Azarcon and Bona Vanessa P. Atienza. A number of PCWHS teachers were also present. They are: Mrs. Ma. Francia Lanuzo, Mrs. Rica Mae D. Gloria, Ms. Morena V. Peralta, Mr. Ricky Majarais, Ms. Laarni Queen Britanico, Mrs. Piedad O. Diola, Mrs. Jeannie A. Ebue, Ms. Esperanza L. Alban, Mrs. Charlotte A. Tolop, and Mrs. Teresita A. Bontigao. Representatives from P. Zamora Elementary School, Marcela Marcelo Elementary School, Maricaban Elementary School, Philippine School for the Deaf, Pasay City National Science High School, Pres. Corazon C. Aquino National High School and Pasay City West High School attended the four-hour training. Respective advisers of each RCY accompanied the students.
PCWHS sent 300 students in the said training most of which are grade 9 learners from the sections of Aguinaldo, Duterte, Macapagal, Magsaysay, Marcos, Quirino and Roxas. Officers of the Supreme Student Government, the school’s Boy Scout and Girl Scout, and members of Campus Integrity Crusaders were likewise present.
Students were given trainings on the application of first aid, transfer of patient from one place to another and resuscitation of unconscious patient.
